HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT (optional)
What better way to enjoy this beautiful sunshine than with a
"People Watching" activity?
You don't have to bake in the sun to complete this assignment.
You can do it in an air-conditioned room or building.
The goal of the exercise is to stimulate your
creative genes and hone our writing skills.
1. Observe 3 people at various life stages. i.e an elderly woman/man,
a teenager, and a baby, preferably of different
ethnicity. Each observation should take place
in different scenarios.
For example, your three "characters" should not all be at the mall.
2. Take note of mannerisms, language, physical descriptions,
interactions with others etc.
3. Weave your subjects together into a short story,
from any POV, of 500 words.
4. Be prepared to present your masterpiece to the group.
Until then, stay cool, hydrated, and safe.

WRITERS BEWARE! . . . BE PREPARED!
ALWAYS bring pen and paper and/or a laptop to meetings. Be prepared to participate in writing exercises, take notes, give and take critiques, etc. A WRITER IS ALWAYS PREPARED TO WRITE. If you've published a book, BRING SEVERAL COPIES OF YOUR BOOK for display and to sell. Be ready to talk about your book. Prepare your 'elevator' speech and be ready to tell us what your book is about!
